Please don't misunderstand; I genuinely adore graphic design. I appreciate it even more because it enables me to earn a living. Life is a journey of ongoing learning. As long as I can continue to learn, I am willing to explore courses beyond graphic design. Last year, I completed a four-month course in therapy support in healthcare.

What Led Me to Select a Course in Therapy Support?

From a young age, I have always been drawn to working in the healthcare sector. However, I didn't have the opportunity to study in that field. Instead, I discovered graphic design and have been working as a designer ever since.

Last year, I came across an article about mid-career switches and related courses. I found it intriguing and decided to seek out more information. After careful consideration, I decided to enroll in the course for four months. If not now, then when? Life is short and unpredictable. You never know what you might discover and experience as you navigate unfamiliar territory.

My Journey Through the Course

The therapy support course was both challenging and rewarding. Each module was designed to equip me with the necessary skills to assist healthcare professionals. I learned about patient care, communication techniques, and the importance of empathy in healthcare settings.

The hands-on training was invaluable. I participated in role-playing exercises that simulated real-life scenarios. This practical experience helped me build confidence in my abilities. I also had the chance to connect with fellow students who shared similar interests. We exchanged ideas and supported each other throughout the course.

What's on My Mind Right Now?

During my one-month practicum at a non-profit social service agency, I had the privilege of meeting many individuals who taught me the value of life. This agency provides long-term residential nursing care for the elderly. I looked forward to the training each morning. The elderly patients gave me a fresh outlook on life, finding great joy in the simplest things. I felt honored to assist the residents with exercises using physiotherapy equipment. During these sessions, they occasionally shared their stories with me.

The Impact of My Experience

My time at the agency was transformative. I learned that every individual has a unique story. Listening to the residents enriched my understanding of life and its challenges. Their resilience inspired me to appreciate the present moment. I realized that my role as a therapy assistant could make a significant difference in their lives.

I also developed strong relationships with the staff. They were dedicated professionals who worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the residents. Their passion for their work motivated me to strive for excellence in my own practice.

Future Aspirations

Having earned a certificate, I am proud of the hard work I've put in to reach my goal. I'm still focused on graphic design, as I can't currently imagine pursuing anything else. However, perhaps in the future, I might explore working as a therapy assistant. The experience has opened my eyes to new possibilities.

I believe that combining my graphic design skills with therapy support could lead to innovative solutions in healthcare. For instance, I could create engaging educational materials for patients. This could enhance their understanding of therapy exercises and promote better outcomes.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my journey into therapy support has been enriching. It has broadened my horizons and deepened my appreciation for the healthcare field. I encourage anyone considering a career change to explore their passions. You never know where it might lead you. Embrace the journey and keep learning.

As I reflect on my experiences, I am excited about the future. The skills I have gained will undoubtedly benefit me, whether in graphic design or therapy support. Life is a continuous journey of growth, and I am eager to see where it takes me next.

If you are interested in exploring courses in therapy support, I highly recommend it. The knowledge and experiences gained can be invaluable. Remember, it's never too late to pursue your passions and make a difference in the lives of others.
